Cyber Security with AI by Alys Thomas

Can AI and traditional photography coexist responsibly? We think so.
We recently partnered with M&C Saatchi for a new campaign for the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials campaign. The brief required stills and motion, all on a strict timeline.
Production started with the stills. George Logan shot the campaign’s core elements, with the exception of the moon surface, which budget would not permit! Over several days, across London, he shot the featured businesses, astronauts, divers, climbers and fish.
To provide motion executions that had the same look as the stills, George collaborated with our AI artist, Alys Thomas. Alys used George’s photography to train the visual output, followed by extensive finessing and grading by our motion team.
We’re learning all the time, but we aspired to a workflow that respects IP and supported full agency direction and human authorship, all whilst solving impossible production hurdles. When AI is used as an extension of the photographer’s vision, rather than a replacement for it, we think it can be a remarkable new asset for creative realisation.
Huge thanks to the M&C Saatchi team (Dan, Ric, Rich, and Em) for your vision and for placing your trust in this human-centric approach to AI.
